Mühlhäusler (2003) declares a close interconnection between language and environment, whether language shapes the environment or it constructs the language. As a result of this ecological approach, the present study aims to discover the trace of environment and ecology in British proper names. The author of the present article collected 1062 British proper names from online sources in male (n=613) and female (n=449) genders. Then through the content analysis, the author classified them based on their environmental elements and approaches. The present article's central hypothesis is that trace of environmental elements is available in British proper names. The second hypothesis is that environmental approaches are also available in British proper names. The third hypothesis is that female British proper names include more trace of environmental elements than male. The findings approved the first and second hypotheses, but the third hypothesis was rejected.
2021-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 https://journalsgs.org/index.php/jsgs/article/view/44 Teaching of Error Analysis with Reference to Mind Your Language Episode-1 2021-05-12T03:30:20+00:00 Dr. Jayashri Nalkar jayashri.nalkar@mituniversity.edu.in
This research article deals with the error analysis of “Mind Your Language” first episode and provides a snapshot overview of the recent condition of the educational sector in this global pandemic has made e-learning to dominate over the entire language learning process.

E-learning solution is going to play an important role in the language learning process. Using technology, the language professors can conduct various activities related to language learning like debates on virtual platforms, group discussions, blog reading, virtual language-related games and such interactive sessions which in turn makes language learning interesting for everyone. It plays an important role in error analysis as it allows the students to make numerous attempts and help them to learn from their mistakes.
2021-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 https://journalsgs.org/index.php/jsgs/article/view/45 Bilingual Mode of Teaching and Learning ESL Skills in Rural Bengal: A Psycholinguistic Study 2021-05-12T03:33:36+00:00 Animesh Biswas animeshbiswas853@gmail.com
Teaching and Learning English as a Second Language has always been a challenging affair for the students of Bengali- medium Government and Government-aided schools in Bengal especially in rural areas. It has been a very problematic and difficult enterprise from the elementary level to the secondary level due to poor infrastructure and lack of adequate trained teachers and above all due to their insufficient amount of exposure to the target language. The kind of methods and techniques employed by the teachers are not in harmony with the requirements and needs of the students. The four basic skills of language (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) have always been affected on account of unavailability of trained teachers and absence of suitable methods and techniques.

2021-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 https://journalsgs.org/index.php/jsgs/article/view/46 Importance of Digital Technology in English Language Learning 2021-05-12T03:36:53+00:00 Aliya Halim aliya.chowdhury@gmail.com
This article examines the importance of digital technology in language learning by students in present day classroom situation and tries to bring out the problems and solutions faced by teachers and instructors in using these technologies while language teaching. It also aims to make students and language teachers aware of the strategies to use digital technology in an effective manner. Digital tools also called ‘Technical Cultural Artefacts’ by A.W. Bates in his Technology, E-learning and Distance Education (London: Routledge, 2005) have been particularly useful in imparting language education. These digital tools are central to the established and recognized field of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) but are also a core part of English Language Teaching (ELT). A useful definition of CALL comes from M. Levy in his Computer-Assisted Language Learning (Oxford: Clarendon, 1997), in which he says, it is ‘the search for and the study of applications of computer in language teaching and learning’. With English as the most common ‘learned’ second language around the world, this paper will explore how Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can be used for English Language learning and the innovative approaches employed for language development to fulfil the needs of the new generation learners who are exposed to the different forms of digital technologies and to globalization. The methodology used is field survey were I have made use of a self-prepared questionnaire. My informants are Graduate level students (Part I, II and III) pursuing Communicative English (Major) Course in the different degree colleges under University of Calcutta. Depending on the prevalent and available informants for my data analysis I have made a comparative study between the levels of learning among students of all the three years.
2021-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 https://journalsgs.org/index.php/jsgs/article/view/47 Necessity of e-Content and Digital Education in ELT During Covid-19 Pandemic Situation 2021-05-12T03:39:49+00:00 Riya Mary Peter riyapeter96@gmail.com
The Covid-19 pandemic has tremendously affected the educational system with the impactful transformation of learning from traditional to instructor-led training. While earlier, blended learning was practiced, currently only e-learning or digital learning has the zenith place. The educator uses e-content or digital content nowadays and teaches effectively through various multi-media tools which will be converted into various formats before their proper deliverance. E-content and digital education in English Language Teaching (ELT) has become a boon to overcome the Covid situation where students cannot attend the educational institutions in person. Additionally, the students can learn “anywhere, anytime” at their convenience in addition to the continuous assessment of the student. The various types of content created and dispensed through various electronic media ranging from the “old media” of print to online platforms has brought the standards of education to a new level. The paper examines how the development of e-content has mobilized the teaching standards and also analyses the necessity of digital education. The methods of e-content deliverance are learning through doing and investigation or by using themes or by testing and evaluation. The educators become tech-savy in the rise of the global technological learning. The paper analyses the importance of the development of e-content in teaching and learning in the pandemic era. The writer also evaluates how the e-content enhances the digital education.
2021-05-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021
